Common questions about ServiceByPublication.com

What is service by publication?
It provides constructive notice to a defendant who’s intentionally absent, in hiding, or otherwise unknown. It typically requires an order from a judge.

How does the service work?
You begin by creating an account. If you’re already a customer of our sister companies, Tag Messenger process servers or National-Locator.com, you can use the same login.

Why is your service faster?
We maintain a national newspaper database, so we already know which newspapers are in an area, what their prices are, and how to contact them. Our software automates the purchasing process, and can even communicate directly with newspapers – through electronic data exchange with major papers or by email or fax at smaller publications.

Why is your service more reliable?
Our software follows up automatically with the publisher and notifies our staff before a deadline is missed. Our automated process reminds the newspaper to send an affidavit of publication and alerts our staff to follow up personally when it has not arrived.

Why is your cost of publication cheaper?
Because we buy in bulk and we understand the newspaper business, we’re often able to achieve discounted rates.

Do I need to write a check to the newspaper?
No. We have electronic payment arrangements that we advance publication fees.

What types of legal notices can you publish?
We can publish any type of notice. Those that are used most often include:
  • Summons and complaints
  • Divorce by publication
  • Adoption notices
  • Notice of public auction
  • Notice of bankruptcy
  • Corporation documents
  • Deeds of trust
  • Foreclosure notices
  • Liens
  • Notice of creditors
  • Probate
  • Tax liens
  • Trustee sales
  • Notices of public hearings of all sorts, including:
    • Liquor licenses
    • Zoning meetings
    • Rule changes
    • Permitting actions
